Empowerment 2
Funnily enough this project, which is currently in first draft status, is a follow-on from Empowerment. So, more vampires, mystery, politics and now also past history intruding into the present day.
James Petty, a British doctor working in a Brooklyn ER department, is presented with a mysterious female patient who was pulled apparently dead from the East River but spontaneously revived on the quayside. With the patient lying in a coma, the only clue to her identity is the French designer labels in her clothes . So who is this woman and how did she end up in the river? And why does Petty find himself developing a strange fascination for her?
Glitch
It is early days for this, with the plot line and just about everything else still in flux. However basically the story begins with British instrument engineer Alan Turley being launched into space aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft, heading to begin a stint aboard the International Space Station. What he doesn't know is that he is about to be catapulted forward in time and then left stranded, with his air supply running low, above an Earth now abandoned by the human race. But then he is miraculously rescued, by the predominantly female crew of an alien warship commanded by the formidable Aliana Delenya . And now Alan finds himself an unwilling participant in a future galactic-wide conflict raging between the human-led Federation and the matriarchal Thurian Empire.
CHARACTERS
I guess like most writers one of the aspects I love most is inventing interesting characters with which to populate my pages. And anyone who has read my published work will probably have noted that I like strong female charaters in particular. We've had MIRIAM and LUCIA in 'A Different Kind of Girlfriend', AVRIL in 'To Cure All Ills', ERI'THA in 'Beyond the Line' and ELLEN COMINO in 'Last Run'. The trend continued in 'Empowerment', where both main characters are females, but I won't give away spoilers by saying more on that. However a new strong women will appear in 'Glitch', namely COMMANDER ALIANA JACQUETTA DELENYA, commanding officer of the Royal Thurian Navy light cruiser Venomous. She is a tough career officer and an outstanding tactician in the art of ship-to-ship combat in space. But while until now she has been a faithful servant of the Thurian Empire, the ramifications of her present mission begin to make her question if that loyalty has been misplaced....
